Star Tribune coverage of The Link

Three Rivers Park District, the City of Edina and other local and regional officials celebrated the start of construction of the Edina segment of the Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail on Friday, October 23, at the former Fred Richards Golf Course.  When complete, the 15-mile Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail will travel through the cities of Hopkins, Minnetonka, Edina, Richfield, and Bloomington. It will also connect to the Lake Minnetonka LRT, Minnesota River Bluffs LRT, Cedar Lake LRT, North Cedar Lake, and Nokomis-Minnesota River Regional Trails, as well as the Dakota County Big Rivers Regional Trail and the planned Minnesota River State Trail. The trail will provide access to Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge Bloomington Visitor Center and Fort Snelling State Park.  Mayor Jim Hovland attended the event.
